Energy Efficient Home

His family home has house batteries, typically lasting 7 to 10 ten years, still functioning well after 19 years of service. The batteries now supply electricity to two sheds on his property and still see plenty of action. His family home is cool in the summer with the summer sun denied access to the long northern wall of the home whilst allowing the winter sun to flood through the windows. The home, where his three daughters were raised, has operated on 3 kWh to 8 kWh per day since its construction with little if any need to warm or cool the home.

He is involved with numerous families within the community who also have been living similar lifestyles for over 20 years that are now only recently starting to become popular.

In mid-2016 he began focusing on designing and producing a 9 Module online course called “Energy Efficiency 101” for both Real Estate Agents / Investors and also for Mums and Dads, ie. homeowners and renters, who want to become more energy efficient and discover how they can reduce their energy consumption and expenditure.

In mid-2017 John began active in supplying advice to people seeking to purchase land, designing new homes or retrofitting existing buildings. He now speaks semi regularly at venues in South East Queensland including free information nights at council libraries where he introduces participants to practical energy efficiency habits including how they can statistically reduce their electricity bills by 10% regardless of whether they rent or own starting the minute they get home.

In late 2018 John extended his educational program to include Real Estate Agents and Real Estate Investors.
